We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the surgical suite, providing high-quality patient care, and supporting the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the surgical team in preparing the operating room for procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Maintain aseptic technique and oversee its maintenance by all members of the surgical team.
- Assist surgeons with procedures, based on level of competency, and demonstrate knowledge of specific operating room and general hospital policies and procedures.
- Prepare and have available sterile instruments and equipment for specific surgical procedures, reviewing surgeons' preference cards in advance for proper case setup.
- Assist in maintaining patient safety by applying principles of body alignment during positioning.
- Perform activities related to indirect patient care, such as cleaning rooms and equipment, and restocking supplies.
- Collaborate with members of the operating room team to maintain equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
- Respond to emergencies, changes in assignments, and fluctuations in surgical schedules, demonstrating flexibility in planning.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) required.
- 1-3 years of operating room experience preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program through NBSTSA.
- Certification exam must be taken and passed within 12 months of completion of surgical technologist program.
- Associate's degree.
- Bilingual preferred.
