Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Business Intelligence Specialist to join our team at Baker Botts. As a key member of our Client Development and Library Research departments, you will be responsible for providing critical business research support to our lawyers and firm leadership.

Your primary focus will be on conducting in-depth research on clients, prospects, competitors, geographic markets, and industry sectors to support business development and strategic growth. You will work closely with business development professionals, pricing and project management team members, librarians, technologists, and others to integrate internal and external data into a holistic perspective of the firm's position and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct extensive research on clients, prospects, competitors, geographic markets, and industry sectors to support business development and strategic growth.
  • Work with business development professionals, pricing and project management team members, librarians, technologists, and others to integrate internal and external data into a holistic perspective of the firm's position and opportunities.
  • Provide actionable information to drive business growth, track and analyze competitor intelligence, and conduct proactive monitoring of legal and business news to spot opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain research protocols and systems that identify opportunities, monitor competitors, and anticipate trends that may impact clients or the firm.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or Market Research.
  • Two to three years of business development, market research, and/or competitive intelligence experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, with intermediate/advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Demonstrated analytical and research skills, with an ability to mine, analyze, and draw insights from large and complex data.
  • Experience working in robust databases and models, and ability to present information visually and verbally in a concise, effective manner.
  • Demonstrable experience with generative AI for business research.
