The incumbent will conduct assessments, determine eligibility for financial support programs based on client information, and make decisions in line with federal and state regulations. Data will be recorded in relevant systems. Local reporting may be required as necessary. Responsibilities include clarifying duties, rights, and program options to clients, reviewing communications from VDSS, and referring potential fraud cases to the appropriate investigator. The role may also involve providing emergency shelter support during crises or natural disasters.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficiency in understanding and applying policies and regulations related to public assistance programs to effectively determine eligibility. Capability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines. Competence in utilizing computer systems and software, including word processing and database management. Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with a diverse range of individuals, including clients, employers, legal entities, and healthcare professionals. Ability to gather and analyze information, perform mathematical calculations, and make informed referrals. The candidate should demonstrate sound judgment, uphold professional ethics, possess problem-solving skills, and maintain emotional stability and maturity. The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities is essential. A positive attitude, supportive demeanor, and professional rapport with colleagues, clients, and the community are expected.
Educational Background and Experience: A high school diploma, complemented by additional training and experience that equips the individual with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
