St. John\u2019s Episcopal Hospital is seeking a Peer Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Specialist, you will work closely with patients and staff to provide support and guidance in achieving mental health wellness and recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide orientation and support to patients in emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings.
  • Use personal experience to serve as a role model and encourage mental health wellness and recovery.
  • Provide peer counseling and support on mental health, substance abuse, and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Lead or co-lead groups on substance abuse, mental health wellness, and recovery.
  • Assist patients in identifying warning signs of relapse and developing coping strategies.
  • Act as a liaison with community and governmental agencies.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment teams to determine and implement comprehensive plans of care.
  • Contribute to departmental QA and PI initiatives.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of a formalized Peer Counselor/Specialist Training Program or one year of experience working with consumers of mental health services.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
