Job Overview

The Senior Power Systems Engineer will take charge of the design, development, and execution of electrical systems tailored for pressure pumping and fracing (e-frac) applications. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of low and medium voltage electrical power systems, AC drive technology, and relevant power generation experience. The role demands a strong capability to apply engineering principles and mathematical concepts effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems such as low and medium voltage switchboards, AC drives, motor control systems, and panel boards in accordance with client specifications.
  • Conduct power system simulations, analyses, and engineering for intricate power systems, including microgrids and large utility setups.
  • Perform load, short-circuit, ground, and arc flash studies to ensure system integrity.
  • Specify, design, and implement electrical motors and AC drives across various generator systems.
  • Oversee projects from the design phase through production, testing, commissioning, and field support for ongoing product and process enhancements.
  • Act as the lead engineer on developed solutions, translating functional requirements into effective system architectures for large-scale implementations.
  • Generate work tasks, manage the procurement and delivery of equipment and materials, and supervise the efficient installation and commissioning of software and hardware.
  • Provide ongoing support for completed projects through troubleshooting and onsite assistance as necessary.
Job Requirements:
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team, managing multiple projects and tasks to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to give and follow directions effectively.
  • Capable of navigating work sites safely, including walking, climbing, and standing in various weather conditions.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite for creating presentations, reports, and schedules.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and navigate uneven surfaces.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and crawling during field visits.
  • Stay alert to unusual sounds indicating equipment or machinery issues.
  • Maintain spatial awareness to safely maneuver around environments with moving objects.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Willingness to travel to various work sites, which may include extended trips to remote locations.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and be on call after hours when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with Autocad Electrical.
Experience Requirements:
  • Electrical / Power Systems Engineer (E-Frac): Minimum of 2 years of experience with electrical systems and AC drive systems.
  • Senior Electrical / Power Systems Engineer (E-Frac): Minimum of 5 years of experience with electrical systems and AC drive systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with low and medium voltage switchgear and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Experience in designing multiple generator power systems.
  • Familiarity with equipment used in the pressure pumping sector.
Additional Information:

This position primarily operates in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal safety hazards. The employee will frequently sit, stand, or walk, with occasional lifting and bending required. Emphasis on safety is paramount, including adherence to PPE requirements. The role may also involve working in field conditions with exposure to various weather elements and environmental factors.
