Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Ryder in Nashville, Tennessee. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electronic problems, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our heavy-duty vehicles.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic problems
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including routine inspections and repairs
  • Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of their complaints
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
  • Work in accordance with all federal and provincial compliance guidelines
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • Ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, and Ryder road test
  • Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
