Position Summary:The Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) operates under the direct guidance of a Registered Nurse, focusing on providing essential, non-invasive bedside care to patients. This role requires the integration of our core values into everyday responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver basic patient care, including assistance with bathing, toileting, feeding, and grooming.
- Perform and document vital signs, as well as measure and record intake and output, weights, and specimen collections.
- Safely transfer patients using appropriate body mechanics and handling techniques.
- Report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the nursing staff.
- Assist in preparing patient rooms and beds for incoming admissions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients.
- Ensure that supplies and equipment are properly stored and that the area remains tidy.
- Respond promptly to patient and family requests.
- Adhere to safety and infection prevention protocols.
- Participate in maintaining a supportive environment conducive to patient comfort and recovery.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in an inpatient hospital setting is required; experience in inpatient rehabilitation is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Current state CNA certification is mandatory.
- CPR certification is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of clinical operations and procedures.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and proper body mechanics.
- Proficient in basic computer skills, including data entry and records management.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
Physical Requirements:
Role involves significant standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for extended periods. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and have sufficient manual dexterity for equipment operation and documentation.
