Employment Type:
This position may be filled as a Probational Appointment or Promotion of a Permanent Classified Employee of Louisiana State Government. The selected candidate may also be required to serve a trial detail prior to permanent promotion.
Compensation:
The salary for this role is contingent upon qualifications and experience, with a Special Entrance Rate (SER) for various levels:
- Licensed Nurse 1: $19.48 per hour
- Licensed Nurse 2: $20.84 per hour
- Licensed Nurse 3: $22.30 per hour
Additional 'Premium Pay' may be available for qualifying conditions, including retention, credentials, experience, and shift differentials, providing an extra $5.00 per hour for hours worked.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a valid Louisiana license or temporary permit to practice practical nursing or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver basic nursing care to patients in stable conditions and predictable situations, adhering to the Professional Nurses Practice Act.
- Monitor patients for changes in physical and mental status, reporting significant observations.
- Administer medications and treatments as per established policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of patient conditions and treatment administered.
- Assist in routine examinations and treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Work Environment:
This role is based in statewide healthcare facilities, specifically within correctional settings, and may require shift work.
