Job Summary

Indiana University is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our commercial and residential HVAC systems and refrigeration equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform planned maintenance, repair, and other projects on University-owned properties.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to install, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems and refrigeration equipment.
  • Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts, and reassemble repaired systems.
  • Charge systems with the proper type of refrigerant and adjust valves according to specifications.
  • Braze or solder parts to repair defective joints and leaks.
  • Perform other general building maintenance as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of verifiable journey-level experience in a relevant trade.
  • Certificate in a relevant DOL apprenticed trade.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University.

  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism.
  • Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position as well as the ability to move about the workplace for long durations. It requires effective communication, the ability to operate machinery, tools, and controls. This role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
