Job Title: Seafood Associate Team Leader

As a Seafood Associate Team Leader at Whole Foods Market - Williamsburg, you will play a key role in ensuring the success of our seafood department. You will be responsible for assisting the team leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Maintain Store Layout and Product Merchandising: Create visually appealing store displays and product arrangements that drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Work with Team Leader to Achieve Sales and Labor Targets: Collaborate with the team leader to set and achieve sales and labor targets, ensuring the department meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Assist with Sales and Expense Analysis: Help the team leader analyze sales reports and labor data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Support Annual Sales and Expense Projections and Budget Preparation: Assist the team leader in preparing annual sales and expense projections and budget, ensuring the department is aligned with company goals.
  • Assist with Ordering and Inventory Management: Work with the team leader to manage inventory levels, ensure accurate ordering, and minimize waste.
  • Resolve Team Concerns and Issues: Address team member concerns and issues in a timely and professional manner, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Function as Point Person and Departmental Person in Charge: Take on additional responsibilities in the absence of the team leader, ensuring seamless department operations.
  • Set and Achieve High Standards of Retail Execution: Maintain the highest standards of retail execution, ensuring a positive customer experience and driving sales growth.
  • Foster a Positive Team Environment: Encourage outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale among team members.
  • Maintain Customer Focus: Direct team members to satisfy and delight customers, responding promptly to customer needs and questions.
  • Develop and Mentor Team Members: Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members to sustain a high-performance team and minimize turnover.
  • Communicate and Model Company Vision and Goals: Consistently communicate and model the company's vision and goals, ensuring team members are aligned and motivated.

  • Technical Skills: Possess proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
Experience:
  • 18+ Months Retail Team Member Experience: Possess at least 18 months of retail team member experience, with a minimum of 6 months of supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Lifting and Standing: Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday.
  • Hand Use and Motion: Use single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling, with the ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  • Exposure to Chemicals and Temperatures: Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals and temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Flexible Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Use of Tools and Equipment: Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
