Recycling Operations Specialist

Position Overview:

The Recycling Processor is responsible for the safe collection and segregation of recyclable materials, ensuring they are prepared for transport in an efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Efficiently separate and categorize metals and other materials into burnable and non-burnable categories.

• Inspect materials to eliminate contamination, utilizing equipment such as magnetic separators for aluminum cans, compactors for newsprint, and loaders for mulching.

• Manage the loading and unloading processes of transport vehicles.

• Conduct weekly cleaning of dumpsters, trucks, and compactors to maintain hygiene standards.

• Adhere to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and directives from management.

• Operate and maintain machinery involved in the baling of materials as required.

• Uphold a safe and tidy working environment by performing tasks such as sweeping, cleaning, and landscaping.

• Participate in safety meetings and branch discussions.

• Supervise site operations in the absence of a supervisor.

• Execute additional tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements:

• A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not mandatory.

• Previous experience with recycling machinery is advantageous.

• Proficient in operating equipment such as bobcats, forklifts, trucks, wheel loaders, magnetic separators, balers, and compactors.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.

• Capable of following instructions and working with minimal supervision.

• Competent in executing all required duties and operating necessary equipment.

Physical and Mental Demands:

• Ability to manually lift and move items weighing up to 60 pounds.

• Must be able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and climb.

• Visual capabilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

• Regular exposure to loud noises, humidity, extreme temperatures, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.

• Occasional work in high and precarious locations.

• The work environment is typically loud.
