POSITION OVERVIEW

The Laboratory Services Operations Manager, under the guidance of the Department/Division/Administrative Director, will oversee daily operations ensuring precision in patient results, equipment management, compliance with regulations, and adherence to established procedures. This role includes supervising laboratory personnel and managing financial and staffing budgets effectively. Collaboration with affiliates to implement best practices across laboratory departments is essential.

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, Day Shift

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology
OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related scientific field and/or equivalent relevant experience recognized by New York State.
AND
  • Licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist from the Department of Education.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as a medical technologist is required.
  • Current New York State Department of Education License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist is mandatory.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a laboratory setting is preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Technical Oversight: Schedule technical staff according to workflow demands. Ensure that procedures, manuals, and instruments comply with best laboratory practices. Validate laboratory results.
  • Human Resource Management: Conduct interviews, hire, train, supervise, and manage personnel actions in collaboration with the Lab Administration Manager. Maintain staffing records in compliance with regulatory standards and review them annually for completeness.
  • Financial & Resource Management: Prepare and oversee staffing, operational, and capital budgets in alignment with approved financial plans, reporting any discrepancies to the Administrative Director. Manage inventory and supplies, negotiating with vendors for optimal pricing and service agreements for laboratory equipment maintenance.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and inspections for the department. Successfully complete, monitor, and generate necessary reports for quality assurance and quality control activities.
  • Training & Competency Development: Responsible for departmental orientation, assessing educational needs, and overseeing staff training and competency evaluations. Assist in teaching programs for medical technology and phlebotomy as needed. Demonstrate commitment to the RGHS Standards of Behavior consistently - STARS: Service, Teamwork, Attitude, Respect, and Standards. Support a culture of excellence and leadership development. Additional duties may be assigned by the Director or Senior Manager.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

COMPENSATION:
$90,000 - $110,000.00

The stated salary range reflects a good faith estimate of current potential base pay for a successful full-time candidate. It may be adjusted in the future and is eligible for additional compensation components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, and location.
