Position Summary:
The Senior Accounting Specialist is accountable for the daily financial operations at Parrish Medical Center. This role encompasses a variety of accounting functions including general ledger management, treasury oversight, and fixed asset administration. The individual will ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) while maintaining accurate financial records and reports. Additionally, this position will involve conducting quality control assessments of peer outputs.

Key Duties:

  • Manage daily accounting functions, including month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and analyze variances against budget and operational volume.
  • Ensure reconciliations of key general ledger accounts are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Review and oversee the work of junior accounting staff.
  • Maintain proficiency in accounting standards and practices.
  • Generate monthly financial reports for internal and board review, along with special reports as needed.
  • Assist in the formulation of annual capital and operational budgets, as well as interim and year-end audits.
  • Oversee treasury functions, including banking liaison duties, daily reconciliation of deposits, and monthly bank account reconciliations.
  • Support physician practice operations by maintaining financial statements and conducting accounts receivable analyses.
  • Administer fixed asset tracking, including matching asset tags with payment documentation and determining asset useful life.
  • Reconcile fixed asset activity with the general ledger.
  • Perform additional related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Understand and adhere to safety protocols and emergency procedures relevant to the workplace.
