Job Summary

Laredo College is seeking a qualified Part-Time Instructor of Business and Management to join our team. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses in Business and Management, developing curriculum, and monitoring teaching/learning effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Business and Management courses, including face-to-face, virtual, and hybrid courses.
  • Develop curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the competencies addressed in the areas of Business and Management or related field.
  • Monitor teaching/learning effectiveness and make adjustments as needed.
  • Provide students with information about the goals and requirements of each course, the nature of the course content, and the methods of evaluation to be employed.
  • Measure each student's progress through the use of written exams or performance assessments essential to mastery of unit objectives.
  • Inform students of course progression and provide supplemental materials and/or instruction when necessary.
  • Be responsible for the efficient and safe operation, care, and appearance of assigned equipment, classroom/lab, and all other teaching materials.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality by following FERPA standards.
  • Work a flexible schedule as determined by instructional activities and course enrollment.
  • Participate in training activities as needed by the department.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Continuing Education, Dean of Community Education, VP of Instruction, and/or President.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field appropriate for the course content taught.
  • Three years' work experience in the area of Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Bookkeeping, QuickBooks, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One-year teaching/training experience.
  • Any certificate/license related to QuickBooks, Bookkeeping, Payroll, Project Management, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to teach Business-related courses.
  • Must be computer literate - word processing, spreadsheets, and the use of the Internet.
  • Must be able to operate online platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, etc.
  • Ability to navigate through a Learning Management System such as CANVAS.
  • Must be knowledgeable, mature, and concerned with the academic progress of participants.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with the program staff and participants.
  • Ability to teach on weekdays and weekends preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form and ability to instruct and maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Must demonstrate enthusiasm.
  • Must be a self-starter and a positive role model.
  • Ability to instruct and maintain emotional control under stress.
