Job Title: GED Math Adjunct Instructor

Laredo College is seeking a qualified GED Math Adjunct Instructor to join our team. As an Adjunct Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching and preparing students to successfully take the General Education Development exam.

Job Summary:

The GED Math Adjunct Instructor will be responsible for:

  • Preparing lesson plans and instructing individuals in a classroom setting
  • Conducting needs assessment analysis for each participant
  • Developing educational plans of action for each participant
  • Monitoring participants' needs in order to remediate educational deficiencies
  • Maintaining the required participant progress documentation
  • Attending all staff meetings and professional development workshops as required by Texas Workforce Commission
  • Keeping daily attendance records and progress reports
  • Assessing program students using the TABE test as dictated by the Texas Workforce Commission
  • Assessing the accomplishments of students on a regular basis
  • Maintaining records portfolios and student progress reports
  • Creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students
  • Assisting in the counseling and guidance with emphasis on maximum progress of participants
  • Preparing and submitting monthly reports on a timely basis
  • Assisting the program coordinator in such duties as deemed necessary in attaining the established program goals
  • Coordinating program activities with other program staff to promote the most effective instructional program goals
Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must have a Bachelor's Degree with 15 hours in Mathematics or related courses. Preferred qualifications include three years of teaching experience and a current teaching credential. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Ability to maintain excellent working relationships with the program staff and participants
  • Knowledgeable, mature, and concerned with the welfare and academic progress of participants
  • Be bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred
  • Must demonstrate enthusiasm and be a positive role model
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in written form
  • Must be familiar with the Internet, word processing, spreadsheet, and PowerPoint software
Work Environment:

Work is performed in a standard office environment. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Supervision:

Supervision is exercised by the Instructional Coordinator and Dean of Community Education.
