Job Overview:
As a Hydraulic Engineering Specialist, you will engage in both structural and non-structural design, data collection, analysis, flood modeling, and cost-benefit evaluations for various water-related infrastructures including waterways, pipelines, dams, dikes, culverts, and canals.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate field crew operations.

Provide expert consultation and direction to project stakeholders and management regarding engineering specifications for the construction of diverse designs, modifications, and structural repairs.

Utilize design software and drafting tools to effectively communicate and render designs; plan and design additional necessary systems and structures related to transportation or hydraulics.

Evaluate the integrity of construction materials through testing and soil analysis.
Establish design specifications by calculating load and grade requirements, material stress factors, water flow rates, and similar metrics.

Plan projects based on comprehensive analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geological and topographical data.

Prepare and present reports on project-related topics including environmental impact assessments and right-of-way descriptions.
Estimate the materials, equipment, and labor required to determine project costs.
Collaborate with engineers and contractors to ensure the smooth progression of projects.

Work alongside surveyors (or lead and participate in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other critical factors influencing construction.

Monitor project advancement and ensure compliance with design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards.
Upon project completion, inspect, repair, and maintain structures as necessary.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Comprehensive understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analysis software.
Skilled in HEC-RAS or other simulation software utilized in computational fluid dynamics.

Deep knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction, repair, or restoration of pipelines, dams, dikes, culverts, canals, and other water-related infrastructures.

Thorough understanding of safety regulations pertinent to assigned projects.
Ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Capacity to be both innovative and analytical.
Highly detail-oriented and precise.

Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a focus on Civil Engineering.
Licensure or the ability to obtain licensure within one year of employment is required.

Physical Demands:
Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be capable of lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally.
Willingness to travel to various project sites.
Ability to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
Salary and hourly wages are commensurate with experience.
