Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Substance Use Counselor to join our team at Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter. As a key member of our outpatient clinic, you will provide integrated dual-diagnosis treatment to address the complex needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and develop individualized treatment plans that address substance use and mental health needs.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions, utilizing a client-centered approach and a harm reduction model.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment, collaborating with the Program Director to ensure a welcoming space for clients.
  • Lead therapeutic and recreational groups, promoting clients' overall well-being and recovery.
  • Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping, including inputting information into the AWARDS client data system.
  • Develop and maintain treatment plans, discharge plans, and other required documentation, adhering to NYS OASAS part 822 regulations and NCS policy.
  • Participate in client and volunteer activities, ensuring the program is prepared for events and activities.
  • Monitor toxicologies as needed.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in social work or a counseling-related field preferred.
  • Licensure such as LMSW or LMHC or CASAC-T or CASAC certification required.
  • Experience working with dually diagnosed adults required.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the harm reduction model.
  • Familiarity with NYC housing placement and resource systems an asset.
  • Computer proficiency and excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
Salary and Benefits

$50,000 - $60,000 per year, with supplemental pay types including a signing bonus.
