Dialysis Technician

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Dialysis Technician to join our team at UC San Diego Health. As a Dialysis Technician, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care dialysis procedures, including initiating dialysis, monitoring treatment parameters, and terminating dialysis per protocol.
Responsibilities:
- Perform direct patient care dialysis procedures, including initiating dialysis, monitoring treatment parameters, and terminating dialysis per protocol.
- Instruct new technicians in the care, use, and safety of dialysis-related equipment.
- Instruct patients and family members in technical and mechanical procedures and maintenance of home dialysis equipment.
- Establish, document, and perform dialysis delivery system, water system, and other equipment.
- Troubleshoot and maintain equipment per protocol.
- Perform venipuncture for the purpose of providing dialysis treatment.
- Administer local anesthetics, heparin, and sodium chloride solutions per unit protocol.
Requirements:
- Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification.
- Certified Hemodialysis Technician issued nationally and by the state of California (CHT) certification.
- BART or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Minimum of one (1) year previous experience as a CHT.
- Recent dialysis experience (within the past six months) in a chronic outpatient facility.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Daily schedule depending on the daily census could include up to 4 patients per shift.
- Per diem shift requirement is an average of 1 shift per week per 4-week schedule.
Pay and Benefits:
Annual Full Pay Range: $73,143 - $73,143 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%); Hourly Equivalent: $35.03 - $35.03.
