Medical Support Assistant

This position is located at a healthcare facility within the Military Treatment Facilities under DHA, San Diego, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enters, manipulates, and/or retrieves information and data from numerous electronic medical record databases.
- Selects appointment times and types by entering appropriate patient information, appointment codes, healthcare provider assignments, and other patient-related variables.
- Maintains all patients' records both electronic or paper according to regulation, ensuring each entry contains proper patient and healthcare provider identification.
- Responsible for the clerical duties inherent in the admission, care, and discharge of patients and guests.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency-type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
Requirements:
- Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., religious; spiritual; community; student; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application).

- This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
Education:
Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university.
(If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. institution.)
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
