Job Summary

This position is located at Military Treatment Facilities under DHA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare administration and be able to provide exceptional support to our medical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enter, manipulate, and/or retrieve information and data from numerous electronic medical record databases.
  • Maintain and monitor patient appointment schedules and make patient appointments manually and/or electronically.
  • Select appointment times and types by entering appropriate patient information, appointment codes, healthcare provider assignments, and other patient-related variables.
  • Receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact in person or telephonically.
  • Maintain all patients' records both electronic or paper according to regulation ensuring each entry contains proper patient and healthcare provider identification.
  • Responsible for the clerical duties inherent in the admission, care, and discharge of patients and guests.

Requirements
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has been designated 'Mission Essential'. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency-type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position may require the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.

Qualifications
  • One year of specialized experience which includes 1) utilizing an automated system to enter and retrieve patient information; and 2) scheduling healthcare appointments; and 3) assisting patients or staff members with basic health clinic inquiries.
  • OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
  • OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
