Job Summary

The Department of Justice is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Attorney Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will provide critical support to the OCDETF Director and other senior leaders in the formulation and execution of policies and decisions related to the administration of the OCDETF program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance on complex policy and compliance matters related to the OCDETF program.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of the criteria used to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the OCDETF program.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to review and provide recommendations for updating the OCDETF program's strategic plan and program guidelines.
  • Organize and implement periodic programmatic reviews of OCDETF Districts, Regions, and Strike Forces.
  • Support OCDETF Executive Office managers in providing advice and consultation to United States Attorneys' offices throughout the OCDETF Regions.
  • Support OCDETF Executive Office managers in providing advice and consultation regarding OCDETF Colocated Strike Forces.
  • Offer advice, guidance, support, and training regarding OCDETF program compliance in complex drug and illicit finance prosecutions and related asset forfeiture cases.
  • Offer advice, guidance, support, and training regarding OCDETF program compliance in complex nondrug centric transnational criminal organization and illicit finance prosecutions and related asset forfeiture cases.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the OCDETF Director.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national.
  • Must be an active member of the bar in good standing in any state, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Must have at least 3 years of post-J.D. experience, one of which was specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level.
  • Must possess superior academic and professional credentials, as well as exceptional writing and oral communication skills.
  • Must have the legal skills and sound judgment necessary to evaluate sensitive issues that arise in the course of attorney misconduct investigations.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the training of, and development of, professional training for prosecutors and agents.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a senior legal advisor for general law, including employment/labor, fiscal/appropriations/procurement, ethics, contracts, information and privacy, administrative, and other general law matters.
  • Background in criminal prosecution, including experience with long-term, complex investigations; electronic surveillance and related legal issues; domestic and international financial investigations; and familiarity with federal investigative agencies.
