As a Senior Commercial Underwriter within PNC's Corporate & Institutional Banking Division, you will engage in managing a portfolio of commercial accounts, focusing on substantial and intricate corporate and commercial transactions with loan amounts starting from 10 million.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operate autonomously with minimal supervision, exercising elevated approval authority. Prepare loan proposals for various transaction complexities and manage assigned portfolios. Engage with both internal and external stakeholders, serving as a subject matter expert in specific asset classes and potentially leading special projects or initiatives.
  • Utilize independent judgment to assess risks and mitigants, preparing proposals and/or evaluations, such as risk ratings, by analyzing creditworthiness, collateral strength, and financial stability of loan participants. Conduct ongoing credit risk management for the assigned portfolio as necessary. May mentor and review the work of junior underwriters and act in a managerial capacity when required.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to gather necessary information and clarify any discrepancies or missing details. Conduct relevant pre-approval and post-approval processes.
  • Identify and confirm compliance with all external regulatory requirements, ensuring adherence to internal policies and procedures.
  • Make informed recommendations on credit decisions or directly execute credit decisions as appropriate.
  • Typically requires a university/college degree and 3+ years of relevant industry experience. Certifications are often preferred. In the absence of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
