Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our team in the Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma & Acute Care at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical competence in trauma care and critical decision making, with the ability to access, diagnose, and treat patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary or specialty medical care within defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CHW policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring surgical intervention in an inpatient environment.
  • Write accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders.
  • Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicate and document information.
  • Facilitate and communicate with patient, family, and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree or higher in Nursing (for Advanced Practice Nurse) or Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies (for Physician Assistant).
  • Wisconsin Physician Assistant License (for Physician Assistant) or Wisconsin RN License and Certification by NCCPA (for Advanced Practice Nurse).
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License.
  • AHA ACLS, AHA BLS, DEA, and ATLS (will train).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-4 years of experience in Trauma Surgery, Critical Care, or Emergency Medicine.
  • Inpatient clinical management experience.
