Computational Scientist in Single Cell Genomics

We are seeking a highly skilled Computational Scientist to join our team at the New York Genome Center. As a key member of our Technology Innovation Lab, you will play a critical role in developing cutting-edge computational methodologies and technologies to advance our understanding of disease mechanisms.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and execute research projects to integrate and analyze large-scale genomic data using current state-of-the-art technologies.
- Develop novel computational approaches for single cell genomics and collaborate with experimental colleagues to understand the nature of generated data.
- Work closely with our team to develop a resource for the community that provides access to collected data.
- Maintain significant knowledge of the current scientific literature and communicate key developments to other lab members.
- Actively participate in the preparation of manuscripts for publication and present at scientific conferences.
- PhD degree in computational biology, computational neuroscience, applied mathematics, computer science, or related discipline with a strong bioengineering and/or molecular biology focus.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in modern molecular biology and/or chemistry tools, including next-generation single cell sequencing methods.
- Proficiency in large-scale data analysis and algorithm development using machine learning, Markov chain, Bayesian, dynamic programming, and graph analysis.
- Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python, C/C++, R, and Stan.
- Experience in designing and developing analytical bioinformatic approaches to extract biologically meaningful data from complex datasets.
