Job Summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Engineer to lead our team in designing and implementing fire protection systems for a wide range of projects. As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, specification, and coordination of fire protection systems, including fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and specification of fire protection systems, including fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety systems
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure compliance with building codes, fire codes, and NFPA standards
  • Develop and implement fire protection calculations, including hydraulic analysis and battery calculations
  • Lead the evaluation of building and life safety requirements, including building area and height limitations, building construction types, and fire resistive assemblies
  • Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to clients and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
  • 7 years of experience in fire protection engineering, including experience with fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety systems
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred
  • NICET certification in Water-Based System Layout, Fire Alarm Systems, or Special Hazards Systems preferred
