Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Supervisor to join our team at UNFI. As a key member of our Distribution team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our transportation department, ensuring the efficient and effective movement of goods across the United States and Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily scheduling of drivers and staff members to ensure optimal workforce utilization
  • Monitor driver departure times and report any discrepancies
  • Share on-call duty with members of the Transportation Department
  • Coordinate customer deliveries with Drivers and notify customers of any delays or accidents
  • Assist in determining rental requirements and equipment needs
  • Answer phones, direct calls, and handle customer, warehouse, and driver inquiries
  • Act as the backup person for the Transportation Manager and complete log data entry as needed
  • Summarize and publish results of quality checks and on-time reporting
  • Work with the Leasing company to ensure proper maintenance schedules of trucks
  • Act as a key communicator between various departments regarding schedule changes and new account service
Requirements
  • College degree preferred or equivalent related experience
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations
  • Current Microsoft Office Applications: Excel, Word, and Access skills necessary
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • Detail-oriented and ability to coordinate complex work schedules
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
