Medical Assistant or Cardiology Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our Cardiology team at Geisinger. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing top-notch care to patients in an outpatient clinical setting.
About the RoleThis per diem position offers a unique opportunity to work in a progressive learning environment while making a meaningful impact on patient care. You will support patients and providers by performing basic direct patient care activities, such as taking vital signs, weights, and assisting with ambulation, dressing, and undressing for examinations.
As a Medical Assistant, you will also be responsible for assisting providers with minor procedures, gathering supplies and equipment, applying aseptic dressings, opening supplies, and completing medication reviews. Additionally, you will obtain and accurately document patient information using the rooming tool within the electronic medical record.
Your expertise will also involve accompanying providers and care team members during patient examinations, providing support and assistance to patients as needed, reinforcing patient instructions to enhance understanding and adherence to treatment plans, and collecting and preparing lab specimens.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of related work experience and a high school diploma or equivalent. Basic Life Support Certification is required within 6 months.
