About This Role
WSP is initiating a search for a Senior Project Accountant. This role is essential for providing comprehensive financial and accounting support to project teams and managers.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced project accounting professional, adept at managing project budgets, conducting margin analysis, and establishing funding within Oracle for complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage the collection, recording, and allocation of project costs and revenues, ensuring precise profit and loss calculations.
2. Oversee the entire lifecycle of project accounting, from account creation in Oracle to project close-out and reconciliation of payables and receivables.
3. Conduct detailed accounting tasks related to contract management and billing for multifaceted projects.
4. Collaborate with project managers to establish and update project budgets, providing recommendations as necessary for contract modifications.
5. Generate and analyze project financial reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity in data presentation.
Financial Oversight
Monitor revenue and unbilled balances to guarantee appropriate revenue recognition. Authorize access to project accounts and manage expense transfers in compliance with accounting standards.
Quality Assurance
Maintain high-quality control standards for financial records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Mentor junior accountants and interns, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
2. 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in accounting and project management.
3. Proficient understanding of project accounting principles and their application to real-world scenarios.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
5. Advanced proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel, including the use of pivot tables and formulas.
