Physician - Hospice and Palliative Care Program Director

Job Summary

TidalHealth is seeking a seasoned physician leader to serve as the Program Director for our Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship Program. As a key member of our medical team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of our fellowship program, ensuring compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements and TidalHealth's policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement the program structure, including curriculum development and clinical rotations.
  • Recruit, interview, and select fellows for the program.
  • Oversee the education and clinical care of fellows in all program-related patient care areas.
  • Maintain active clinical practice in Hospice and Palliative medicine.
  • Participate in Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) meetings and subcommittees.
  • Ensure compliance with ACGME Institutional and Program Requirements.
  • Prepare reports on program, faculty, and fellow performance.
  • Update program and fellowship records through the ACGME's Accreditation Data System.
Requirements
  • Physician with current active clinical practice in Hospice and Palliative medicine.
  • Current board-certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association in one of the primary specialties listed below: Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Psychiatry and Neurology, Radiology, Surgery.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Maryland.
  • Eligible for unrestricted Active Medical Staff Privileges.
  • A minimum of two years in a clinical practice of Hospice and Palliative medicine.
  • Documented involvement in education and scholarly activities, including mentoring fellows and developing curricula.
Skills
  • A skilled clinician who prioritizes patient-centered care.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The understanding and ability to teach as measured by the success of the fellows that they have trained.
  • Demonstration of professional behaviors that allow the Program Director to serve as a role model.
  • The ability to manage a departmental budget and staff.
