Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Manager to join our team at Stantec. As a Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction phase of development projects, ensuring that cost, schedule, and quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and document contractor's work for conformance with approved documents.
  • Establish and implement office procedures for construction contract administration.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff.
  • Implement project controls for distribution and record keeping of construction drawings, contract correspondence, technical records, and other project documents.
  • Monitor and document contractor's work for compliance with project safety standards.
  • Lead and mentor a team of staff working under your supervision.
  • Review certified payrolls and coordinate testing on projects.
  • Coordinate project construction staking and review shop drawings and submittals.
  • Conduct regular construction meetings with contractor, owner, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly or semi-monthly payment requests and issue change orders on contract.
  • Conduct field evaluations and assessments as required.
  • Coordinate with owner, contractor, and design team to address project issues and coordinate solutions.
  • Perform constructability review on plans and assist in preparation of project documents and cost estimates.
  • Perform final inspections and assist supervisor and/or team leader with client contact, staffing forecasts, and project development.

Qualifications

  • Experience with construction principals, techniques, and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
  • Understanding of construction surveying and staking procedures.
  • MNDOT, NDDOT, and/or WISDOT certifications preferred.
  • FHWA and DOT documentation experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written, and ability to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team setting.
  • Detailed oriented and valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Four-year degree in Construction Management or Construction Engineering.
  • 10 years of highway heavy construction inspection/construction management experience.
  • Supervisor and staff development experience.
