We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Services Representative to join our team at Kern Medical. As a Patient Access Services Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of patients through our healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities:- Greets patients and families, reviews the registration process, and schedules appointments for exams or follow-up care.
- Assembles and completes all necessary patient data and documents, including pre-admission, admission, pre-registration, and registration functions.
- Verifies and authorizes insurance coverage and completes all necessary paperwork.
- Enters patient demographic information into our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and uses other department applications for eligibility and authorization.
- Assesses patient financial responsibility and collects co-pays, co-insurance, out-of-pocket expenses, and deductibles at the time of admission.
- Screens admissions and informs referring physician offices, patients, and families about hospital policies and procedures regarding payment sources for services rendered.
- Interviews patients to determine possible eligibility for state-funded programs and obtains funding information from patients and provides information on available funding resources.
- High School diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of patient access experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- Knowledge of state and federal government funding programs, such as Medicare, Medi-Cal, CCS, TRICARE/CHAMPUS, and Workers' Compensation.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
