Overview:
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist II, you will engage in complex testing procedures that require independent judgment and expertise in microbiology. Your role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results that impact patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct analytical tests in compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), ensuring quality control standards are consistently met.
- Provide technical support in quality assurance, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Document and report test results accurately in the Laboratory Information System for physician review.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary laboratory environment, adhering to all regulatory requirements including CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA.
- Participate in training and competency assessments for laboratory staff.
- Assist in the resolution of any issues related to testing procedures and communicate effectively with supervisory personnel.
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
Minimum of one year of full-time experience in a clinical laboratory setting, specifically in high complexity testing.
Preferred Experience:
At least three years of clinical experience, with the most recent year in the relevant department.
Education:
BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology, or an Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
Skills:
Demonstrated leadership abilities, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Systems. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently are essential.
Certifications:
ASCP Certification is required.
