We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join our Blood Bank team at Metrowest Medical Center. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing laboratory procedures, reviewing and reporting lab results, and maintaining laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform laboratory procedures in all areas of the laboratory, including Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, and Urinalysis.
- Work in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures to produce accurate results and complete testing within designated turn-around-times.
- Call critical results to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Perform instrument maintenance and Quality Control, with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and document results.
- Ensure that all equipment is clean and operational at all times, and that the work area is clean and safe.
- Communicate with colleagues to ensure proper workflow of specimens.
- Perform, evaluate, and report Quality Control for both automated instruments and manual testing.
- Complete online safety reports for Quality Assurance.
- Document Continuing Education, including required online courses and webinars.
- MLS/MT/MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
- Completion of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
- At least one year of experience as a laboratory technologist, preferably as a Generalist.
- Competency in all areas of Blood Bank, including antibody identification.
Frequent standing, walking, and bending during the course of duties. Concentrated attention required while performing testing. Frequent exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals, reagents, or specimens while performing tests.
