We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician Senior to join our team at MD Anderson Cancer Center. As a Pharmacy Technician Senior, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient preparation and dispensing of medications to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare investigational doses by reading datasheets, following protocol directions, and documenting thoroughly on investigational cards.
- Demonstrate strong math skills for pharmacy calculations and manage time efficiently to maintain high productivity.
- Manage inventory through supply chain, monitor key inventory parameters, and take appropriate actions to evaluate inventory usage.
- Develop, implement, and document procedures related to receiving, shipping, transfers, returns of inventory, physical counts, and loss prevention.
- Coordinate with suppliers for acquisition and distribution of drugs/supplies, communicate drug availability to staff, and maintain inventory security within the pharmacy area.
- Follow standard operating procedures/safety standards (USP 797/800, NIOSH) when handling and wasting of hazardous drugs, report and document chemotherapy spills, and complete pump assignments.
- Restock, load, unload, and outdate automated dispensing cabinet inventory consistently and accurately, provide floor stock inventory as needed, and demonstrate technical proficiency and problem-solving skills with carousel software and other systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent; preferred certificate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program.
- Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP), with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB); preferred ACPE Sterile Products Certification.
- Two years pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, infusion center, or retail pharmacy; preferred IV sterile preparation experience, ACPE IV Sterile Products Competency, pharmacy experience training staff, and experience in a leadership role.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a minimum salary of $48,000 and a maximum salary of $72,500. The position requires onsite presence and the ability to work a day/evening schedule with flexibility to flex schedule across areas and shifts based on operational needs.
