Lowes Foods is seeking an exceptional individual to fill the role of Smokehouse Department Leader. This exciting opportunity comes with a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $65,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. Located in a vibrant community, this position offers a chance to build a loyal customer base and create genuine relationships with guests while maintaining operating standards.

As a Smokehouse Department Leader at Lowes Foods, your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Becoming the Pit Master, embodying a blinding dedication to all things smoked meat
  2. Interacting with guests and hosts in a fun and friendly manner to create an engaging environment
  3. Ensuring all smokehouse staff provides fun, friendly, and engaging service
  4. Actively engaging guests through freshly prepared Smokehouse samples and suggestive selling
  5. P personally demonstrating superior guest service at all times
  6. Performing activities outlined in the Pit Master character performance description
  7. Operating the department according to strict merchandising and operational standards
  8. Ensuring the quality of product for sale meets Lowes Foods standards
  9. Maintaining sanitation and safety throughout the department according to Lowes Foods standards
  10. Providing guidance, orientation, training, and feedback to ensure Smokehouse staff achieves satisfactory performance standards
  11. Performing product preparation, receiving, ordering, stocking, and guest service as necessary to achieve standards
  12. Maintaining HACCP required product information log sheets as necessary
  13. Performing light meat cutting duties as needed
  14. Performing all other duties as assigned by management
  15. Performing PA announcements

  • The ability to actively engage guests and be willing to have fun with them
  • The willingness to perform in front of large crowds and draw attention to the Smokehouse department
  • The ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • The ability to stay in character
  • The ability to work well with others
  • The ability to lift 25 lbs consistently and 50 lbs occasionally
  • Previous meat cutting/trimming experience
  • Previous culinary knowledge and/or background preferred
  • The ability to read and understand information and direction
  • Knowledge of deli as well as meat department operations
  • The ability to supervise people, including training and development
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
  • Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • The ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time
  • The ability to effectively communicate with, and take direction from supervision
  • The ability to work well with computers
