Smokehouse Department Leader

Lowes Foods is seeking an exceptional individual to fill the role of Smokehouse Department Leader. This exciting opportunity comes with a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $65,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. Located in a vibrant community, this position offers a chance to build a loyal customer base and create genuine relationships with guests while maintaining operating standards.
As a Smokehouse Department Leader at Lowes Foods, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Becoming the Pit Master, embodying a blinding dedication to all things smoked meat
- Interacting with guests and hosts in a fun and friendly manner to create an engaging environment
- Ensuring all smokehouse staff provides fun, friendly, and engaging service
- Actively engaging guests through freshly prepared Smokehouse samples and suggestive selling
- P personally demonstrating superior guest service at all times
- Performing activities outlined in the Pit Master character performance description
- Operating the department according to strict merchandising and operational standards
- Ensuring the quality of product for sale meets Lowes Foods standards
- Maintaining sanitation and safety throughout the department according to Lowes Foods standards
- Providing guidance, orientation, training, and feedback to ensure Smokehouse staff achieves satisfactory performance standards
- Performing product preparation, receiving, ordering, stocking, and guest service as necessary to achieve standards
- Maintaining HACCP required product information log sheets as necessary
- Performing light meat cutting duties as needed
- Performing all other duties as assigned by management
- Performing PA announcements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- A friendly, energetic, and outgoing personality
- The ability to actively engage guests and be willing to have fun with them
- The willingness to perform in front of large crowds and draw attention to the Smokehouse department
- The ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- The ability to stay in character
- The ability to work well with others
- The ability to lift 25 lbs consistently and 50 lbs occasionally
- Previous meat cutting/trimming experience
- Previous culinary knowledge and/or background preferred
- The ability to read and understand information and direction
- Knowledge of deli as well as meat department operations
- The ability to supervise people, including training and development
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
- Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills
- Must be at least 18 years old
- The ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time
- The ability to effectively communicate with, and take direction from supervision
- The ability to work well with computers
