Job Summary

The City of West Sacramento is seeking a highly skilled Plans Examiner II/Senior to join our team. As a key member of our Community Development Department, you will be responsible for reviewing and inspecting residential and commercial building plans to ensure compliance with City building regulations and codes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and inspect building plans to ensure compliance with City building regulations and codes
  • Conduct field investigations to identify and address structural problems and safety hazards
  • Prepare reports and make recommendations on solutions resulting from field inspections
  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Building Inspector
  • Assist building permit applicants in completing applications

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 30 semester units in building inspection technology, engineering, architecture, or related field
  • 2 years of full-time experience as a Plans Examiner I with the City of West Sacramento or 3 years of full-time architectural, design, drafting, and inspection experience
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and ICC Certification as a Plans Examiner

Working Conditions:

May be required to attend off-hour meetings and work in a standard office or construction environment.
