A Day in the Life of an HVAC Residential Service Installer

The HVAC Residential Service Installer position involves replacing, modifying, and/or installing warm air furnaces, air conditioners, duct distribution systems, boilers, water heaters, and related piping and electrical to meet or exceed the manufacturer's recommendations and local codes. This role requires troubleshooting, adapting, and resolving/repairing issues that arise during an installation to ensure proper equipment function. The installer must also communicate with customers regarding the proper operation and owner's maintenance of installed equipment, answer related questions, and perform required documentation for each installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Replace, modify, and/or install warm air furnaces, air conditioners, duct distribution systems, boilers, water heaters, and related piping and electrical
  • Troubleshoot, adapt, and resolve/repair issues that arise during an installation
  • Communicate with customers regarding equipment operation and maintenance
  • Perform required documentation for each installation
  • Collect payments as directed

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in HVAC installation and repair
  • Customer service orientation and effective communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
  • Accurate listing and ordering of materials and supplies
  • Ability to work under time constraints, budgetary limits, and pressures
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance
  • Ability to work and drive safely
