Transportation Business Analyst

Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive cost analysis and accounting activities, including the development of regular cost estimates and reports.
  2. Analyze operational data to pinpoint areas for improvement and enhance efficiency.
  3. Lead transportation project initiatives and IT-related projects to drive performance.

Essential Duties:

  1. Compile, maintain, and scrutinize data, focusing on cost and operational metrics.
  2. Gain a thorough understanding of the business processes and systems utilized within Perdue Transportation Inc.
  3. Collaborate with the IT Department and operational teams to spearhead PTI projects.
  4. Define business requirements, identify data sources, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide training for report generation.
  5. Engage with key stakeholders to present and analyze data outputs aimed at enhancing operational performance.
  6. Create and distribute scorecards to measure performance metrics for both internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Manage and update the UltrashipTMS rate management system to support routing, carrier bids, and lane cost analysis.
  8. Continuously seek opportunities to refine business processes, generate ad-hoc reports, and conduct lane analysis.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, accompanied by 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Over 5 years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, or Supply Chain.
  • At least 2 years of experience utilizing Business Intelligence software for report and dashboard development.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Familiarity with systems and software applications.
  • Proven ability to lead projects from requirement gathering through to deployment.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • An understanding of Information Systems and their interdepartmental integration.
