Job Overview:

The Microbiology Quality Analyst is responsible for the preparation and examination of environmental specimens in accordance with established scientific protocols, ensuring adherence to the company's Quality Assurance standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role requires proficiency in both routine and intricate analytical methods, as well as a commitment to data integrity and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and analyze environmental specimens.
  • Accurately input and report analytical findings utilizing the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Conduct independent reviews of analytical data generated by fellow analysts.
  • Perform analysis on reference materials, proficiency samples, and other quality control specimens as required.
  • Provide exceptional client service and technical support as necessary.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance Manager in the development, execution, and data collection of QA processes for various analytical tests.
  • Confirm laboratory results as requested by client services personnel.
  • Execute all QA-related tasks associated with analytical testing.
  • Support the pursuit and maintenance of essential laboratory accreditations.
  • Maintain and update all required training and QA documentation on-site.
  • Coordinate and manage projects based on urgency and deadlines to ensure timely completion.
  • Assist colleagues with analytical inquiries as needed.
  • Engage in Lean initiatives and projects when requested.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and consumables, taking action to reorder as necessary.
  • Manage the disposal of analyzed samples as required.
  • Train new analysts in mycology, bacteriology, asbestos, and other analytical testing as needed.
  • Recommend and coordinate sample transfers as appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain laboratory stock cultures and reference samples.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for identified errors and issues.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all laboratory equipment and coordinate servicing as needed.
  • Regularly communicate available capacity to senior management.
  • Support other laboratory departments (mycology, asbestos, bacteriology, etc.) as required.

Additional Responsibilities:
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.
