Position Summary

The individual in this role will be responsible for managing the daily functions of the pharmacy department, ensuring effective workflow, overseeing patient clinical management, and promoting continuous quality enhancement. This position requires strict adherence to policies and procedures, compliance with regulatory standards, management of pharmacy sales, expense oversight, and inventory control, all while delivering exceptional customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and pharmaceutical partners.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement

  • Guarantees that pharmacy staff deliver welcoming service and accurate information, maintaining a friendly and efficient atmosphere.
  • Addresses customer questions and concerns, striving to enhance the overall reputation of the pharmacy department.

Operational Management

  • Oversees the daily operations of the pharmacy department.
  • Enhances prescription volume, pharmacy revenue, and public perception through precise prescription fulfillment and excellent customer service.
  • Immediately reports any prescription errors and adheres to company policies regarding incident management and quality improvement.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant federal and state regulations and company policies concerning pharmaceuticals and related products.
  • Implements and recommends asset protection measures to minimize financial losses.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety standards within the pharmacy department, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Manages financial operations including cash handling, daily cash reports, and related documentation.
  • Ensures the proper functioning and upkeep of pharmacy systems and equipment.
  • Identifies third-party pharmacy business opportunities and ensures effective management of related systems to reduce payment issues.
  • Controls inventory levels in the Prescription Department, following company purchasing guidelines.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Supervises pharmacy team members to ensure compliance with required functions and company policies. Verifies that all pharmacy personnel hold the necessary licenses and are adequately trained in essential functions.

Professional Growth

  • Regularly evaluates personal performance and sets objectives for improvement.
  • Stays informed about advancements in pharmacy, healthcare, and retail management that relate to job responsibilities.

Collaboration

  • Fosters strong working relationships with healthcare professionals and collaborates effectively with the Local Specialty Pharmacy team.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current pharmacist license in the relevant states or willingness to obtain within one year.
  • A minimum of one year of pharmacy experience, including prescription filling and compliance.
  • Experience with prescription dispensing that demonstrates knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Completion of specialized training or practical experience in areas such as HIV, Organ Transplant, or Oncology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience at a Walgreens Local Specialty Pharmacy.
  • Strong performance review ratings in previous evaluations.
