Human Resources Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to support the effective and efficient operations of our organization's human resource department.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the first point of contact for the Human Resources Department, answering and screening incoming telephone calls and assisting directly with routine inquiries.
- Process and file departmental notifications for all new hires, departures, changes, or transfers within appropriate offices.
- Process invoices and P-card transactions and maintain information related to the departmental budget.
- Create and maintain personnel files (electronic & hard copy); manage file room.
- Ensure that all forms and documents are uploaded into HRIS.
- Plan, coordinate, and assist with execution of department meetings and events hosted by the Human Resources Department.
- Assist in recruiting efforts and onboarding by creating orientation schedules, providing basic paperwork for orientation of new employees and entering new hires in HRIS database.
- Assist with benefit coordination of FMLA and COBRA.
- Process address, name changes and emergency contact updates with HR System.
- Perform internal audits to ensure that all employee documentation is collected and maintained according to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct research, gather data and disseminate information for and on behalf of the Director of Human Resources.
- Coordinate and complete projects and duties, as assigned by Director of Human Resources.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED) or Associate's degree in related field (preferred).
- Advanced prior related office experience (preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
