Position Summary:


This role involves supporting physicians and/or registered nurses in delivering clinical care and overseeing the care provided by medical assistants. Collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals is essential to address the needs of patients and their families.

The position entails executing the care plan by offering direct basic nursing services in line with the LPN scope of practice defined in the Nurse Practice Act. Additionally, it includes contributing to the assessment of patient responses to nursing interventions and ensuring accurate and timely documentation.


Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited technical, professional, or vocational nursing program

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification

Active RN licensure is also acceptable

Capability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary team

1-2 years of relevant experience

Key Responsibilities:
Administers medications to participants safely and in accordance with legal and professional standards. Accurately interprets and implements physician orders. Ensures timely documentation of medication administration as per nursing standards. Provides education to participants and caregivers regarding medications.

Executes technical procedures following hospital and departmental policies, established competencies, and accepted standards of practice.

Assesses supply requirements for the nursing department and places orders to meet departmental needs.

Organizational Responsibilities:

Identifies personal areas for improvement, collaborates with clinical instructors to enhance learning experiences for nursing students, stays updated with current practices, and demonstrates awareness of organizational and unit changes.

Coordinates monthly reviews of Medication Administration Records (MAR) and develops MAR for new participants as necessary.

Gathers data contributing to nursing assessments. Documents ongoing observations and communicates findings to other healthcare team members. Demonstrates knowledge of relevant regulations, particularly those concerning primary care for participants.

Additional Information:

  • Provides direct patient care tailored to individual needs.
  • Plans and delivers care based on daily patient assessments, Individual Education Plans (IEP), Individualized Health Plans (IHP), and/or physician directives.


  • Promotes optimal patient wellness by assisting patients in adapting to their health conditions.


  • Reports significant observations and changes in patient conditions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains clinical records as required.
  • Commits to ongoing professional development and enhances interpersonal service toward patients, families, administration, and colleagues.


  • Performs tasks as delegated by the RN.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as needed, including providing medical assistance for students, collaborating with students in the classroom, assisting with assessments, and managing immunization records and screenings.


  • Engages in continuous education and attends relevant conferences and seminars to maintain and enhance professional competency.
