Therapeutic Activities Coordinator

This is a challenging role that requires a bachelor's degree in a related field to provide therapeutic activities for individuals with serious mental illness. The position involves developing social and group programs to support residents in the Intensive Day Treatment Program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and provide consumers with a range of therapeutic activities to promote self-care, home management, social adjustment, and independent skills.
- Participate as a treatment team member for day treatment services and provide services as required.
- Complete reports and paperwork required by the Agency and document services provided in the Electronic Health Record.
- Observe consumer's levels of functioning and consult with clinical staff to determine actions to be taken.
- Participate in clinical staffing of day treatment consumers and complete weekly and daily documentation on consumer's progress towards treatment goals.
- Assist in development of IDTX curriculum, activities, and groups, and monitor consumers' safety, interactions, and behaviors.
- Transport clients to appointments or other activities and participate in training activities to increase and enhance professional and therapeutic skills.
- Become knowledgeable of community resources and other available services for the seriously mentally ill.
- Provide at least 20% of overall time in direct service.
Requirements:
- Some knowledge of group dynamics and basic counseling skills.
- Ability to work harmoniously with staff and residents, and to relate to the needs of residents in individual and group settings.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of residents.
- Ability to accomplish and maintain documentation as appropriate.
- Ability and willingness to provide services and perform duties outside of the traditional five-day work week when necessary.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university in psychology, social work, or related field OR high school diploma or equivalent with at least two years of experience.
- Some training in communication or group activities preferred.
- Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must have and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Carastar's insurance carrier.
- Must maintain at least liability insurance on personal vehicles.
- Must hold and maintain a current Red Cross First Aid, CPR, MAC Training, and CPI certificate.
