About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Assistant to join our team at Giovanni Rana. As a key member of our research and development team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of new products and improving existing ones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace safety, and quality procedures at all times.
  • Conduct R&D testing of finished products and raw materials, providing accurate and detailed results.
  • Perform tasks as delegated by the R&D manager, demonstrating a proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of organizational skills, ensuring the R&D samples inventory and shipments are accurately managed and the R&D kitchen remains clean and organized.
  • Work independently, following instructions and moving forward with projects independently when management is not on site.
  • Read and interpret documents such as invoices and department manuals, applying knowledge to support the team's efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • 1+ year of experience in R&D, food service, or culinary education equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish a plus.
  • Math skills, including the ability to calculate percentages.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word a plus.
Working Conditions
The employee will be subject to standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking, grasping, lifting, holding, or feeling objects, and occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee will often be required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working and handling products, computers, or machinery. The employee may be subject to assisting and supporting up to 40 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on an as-needed basis. The employee could have work conditions that are cold or hot, and the noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
