Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Support Specialist to join our team at Hummingbirds Innovations. As a key member of our database engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale databases for our high-profile applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with software developers to specify, design, develop, test, and deploy databases for our applications.
  • Work with senior database engineers to create data definition language (DDL) scripts for creating, modifying, or deleting tables within the database.
  • Develop and maintain databases for development, test, training, and production environments across multiple classification fabrics.
  • Implement security features such as access control, role separation, audit, and logging, and system monitoring.
  • Participate in iterative software development teams and adhere to all reporting requirements.
  • Meet with stakeholders, analyze requirements, develop user stories, and translate them into data models and corresponding databases.
  • Work with other enterprise data service programs to leverage their capabilities in the final system implementation.
  • Develop technical documentation and briefing materials to support program status reviews, control gates, and other presentations.
  • Provide demonstrations and detailed walk-throughs of data models and repository features to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work with rapid prototyping to refine requirements and design.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in database engineering and administration.
  • Significant experience working with relational databases such as MySQL, Postgres, or Oracle.
  • User-level experience with Linux and a strong grasp of SQL.
  • Demonstrated experience with supporting the development, engineering, and administration of cloud-based databases.
  • Significant experience with MySQL.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing security measures, access controls, role separation, audit, and logging in database solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with standard data exchange formats, including Extensible Markup Language (XML).
  • Knowledge of AWS Cloud services is a plus.
