Summary of Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager will oversee property accounting for multiple assets, working closely with property and regional managers to ensure financial accuracy and timeliness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and review financial data, reconcile bank accounts and financial statements, prepare journal entries, and assist with budget preparations.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including the creation of financial reporting packages, variance analyses, executive summaries, budgets, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain accounting controls, policies, and procedures to enhance departmental workflow and ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Coordinate and prepare documentation for financial audits.
  • Collaborate with property and regional managers to ensure timely and accurate pre-close activities.
  • Manage recruitment, interviewing, associate development, and performance feedback.
  • Engage proactively with clients regarding property profitability and respond to inquiries promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial deadlines related to debt, funding, and financial statements.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in an accounting role is required.
  • Three to five years of experience in property management is preferred.
  • Direct management experience is essential.
  • Familiarity with Yardi Voyager or similar systems is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of GAAP within the multifamily property management sector is preferred.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (including Excel functions).
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Foster a collaborative environment where associates are motivated to excel by leading with a shared vision and providing coaching and development.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage priorities effectively in a dynamic setting.
  • Completion of Avenue5 Fair Housing and Preventing Discrimination and Harassment training is required.

Scheduling:

Maintaining a regular schedule may require working overtime, weekends, and non-traditional holidays.

Environment:

Work is typically performed in an office setting.
