About the Role:

As a Surgical Veterinary Technician at Ethos Veterinary Health, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and the well-being of our patients. Your expertise will be essential in conducting pre-surgical examinations, administering pre-anesthetic medications, and monitoring patient responses. You will also be responsible for sterilizing and setting up surgical instruments and equipment, as well as assisting in tissue handling, retraction, and other tasks as directed. Your attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team environment will be crucial in providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:
Conduct pre-surgical examinations and obtain medical histories
Administer pre-anesthetic medications and monitor patient responses
Insert and manage IV catheters for fluid therapy and medication administration
Sterilize and set up surgical instruments and equipment
Assist in tissue handling, retraction, and other tasks as directed
Record all data accurately for the medical record
Adjust anesthesia levels and administer additional medications as needed
Provide postoperative care, including pain management and wound care
Ensure the surgical suite is disinfected and ready for the next procedure
Explain postoperative care instructions to pet owners and provide updates on the patient's condition

Requirements:
High school diploma
Active CA-RVT license is required for this position with 2+ years of experience
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
Consistent and reliable ability to monitor anesthesia, perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60-days of hire or transfer into this role; (this requirement is waived if incumbent holds a valid CA-RVT license.)
Proficient in anesthesia administration and monitoring
Strong technical skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Compassionate approach to patient care
