About the Role

The Jackson Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Technician I to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our properties.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, floors, and other high-touch areas using established protocols and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, including buffers, auto scrubbers, and high-pressure washers.
  • Strip, clean, and apply floor sealer and finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets, and perform other general maintenance tasks.
  • Wash walls and equipment, and use ladders when required in work assignments.
  • Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies, and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Lock and unlock assigned buildings, and secure facilities when not in use.
  • Handle recycling materials and perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to walk 26,000 steps nightly or approximately 10 miles during the course of nightly duties.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to organize time effectively, and demonstrated ability to manage details and provide excellent client service skills.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions, and communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective interpersonal skills sufficient to permit incumbent to work effectively with a wide variety of people and personalities.
  • Ability to use computers and basic business computer programs.
