At the Georgia Department of Public Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Health Registered Nurse 1 or 2 to join our team. As a Public Health Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting health and preventing disease in our communities.

Job Summary:

The Public Health Registered Nurse 1 or 2 will provide professional nursing care to populations with special needs during disasters and emergencies. You will work under broad supervision to provide comprehensive physical assessments, develop care plans, and administer medications and vaccines. Your expertise will be essential in promoting health and preventing illness, injury, or disability.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional nursing care to populations with special needs during disasters and emergencies.
  • Conduct comprehensive physical assessments and develop care plans based on nursing assessment and established protocols.
  • Administer medications and vaccines according to established nurse protocol.
  • Provide education to clients, families, and community partners on health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide patient-centered care.
  • Participate in public health emergencies and respond as directed.
  • Assist with completing monthly/quarterly reports.
Requirements:
  • PH Registered Nurse Level 1: Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
  • PH Registered Nurse Level 2: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Nurse license AND CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Public Health Nursing Experience.
  • Residents preferred for Emergency Preparedness Planning for the Health Department.
