Job Summary:

The Public Health Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care to individuals and communities, focusing on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, and the promotion of health and well-being. This role will involve working closely with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans, provide education and support to clients and families, and participate in public health initiatives and emergency preparedness planning.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive physical assessments for all ages and clinical programs.
  • Develop care plans based on nursing assessment and established protocols.
  • Focus on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, and the promotion of health and well-being.
  • Serve as patient advocate and refer patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Record to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
  • Administer and dispense medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
  • Provide education to clients, families, and community partners.
  • Participate in public health initiatives and emergency preparedness planning.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire.
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
  • CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Public Health Nursing Experience.
  • Residents preferred for Emergency Preparedness Planning for the Health Department.
